The 19th African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) of African Command and Staff Colleges is underway in Kigali. Held under the theme “The Future of African Military Training and Education: Bridging the Digital Divide,” The high-level meeting will be is scheduled to run until November 12, 2025.
The annual event serves as a vital platform for advancing the education, training, and professional development of military officers across the continent.
It aims to promote harmonization, interoperability, and common standards among African Command and Staff Colleges while strengthening cooperation in military training and strategic thinking.
Organized under the auspices of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), this year’s conference will bring together commandants, senior representatives, defence experts, strategic partners, and members of the African Union Peace and Security Council.
Discussions will focus on addressing emerging global and regional challenges through innovation and research in military education, particularly by bridging the digital divide.

According to the RDF, the conference will provide an opportunity to explore joint resolutions and frameworks that enhance collaboration in defence education and training.
It will also serve as a platform to foster partnerships that support technological advancement and digital inclusion within Africa’s military institutions.
Hosting the 19th ACoC underscores Rwanda’s growing leadership in promoting continental security cooperation.
The RDF’s commitment to advancing defence education reflects the country’s broader efforts to strengthen regional peace, stability, and innovation through knowledge sharing and capacity building.
The conference is expected to reaffirm Africa’s collective resolve to modernize military education and ensure that future officers are well-equipped to navigate the evolving security landscape in the digital era.
