Rwanda, France Reaffirm Strategic Dialogue Amid Regional Security Talks in Brussels

At the 3rd AU–EU Ministerial Meeting, Minister Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe meets Hon. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France

On the sidelines of the 3rd African Union–European Union Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Rwanda and France renewed their diplomatic engagement with a high-level bilateral discussion between their foreign ministers.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe, met with Hon. Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, to advance cooperation and regional peace efforts.

The two leaders exchanged perspectives on key areas of collaboration, placing particular emphasis on the evolving peace and security landscape in the Great Lakes region.

Their conversation marked a continuation of Rwanda and France’s efforts to strengthen mutual understanding and reinforce diplomatic channels in response to ongoing challenges across the region.

This meeting underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between African and European partners, particularly in a geopolitical climate marked by complex security dynamics and shifting alliances.

By engaging in transparent conversations on both cooperation and conflict resolution, Rwanda and France are positioning themselves as key actors in promoting long-term peace in one of Africa’s most sensitive regions.
