The Rotary Club of Kigali Cosmopolitan on July 15, 2025 ushered in a new chapter of leadership and service with the installation of its incoming President, Srinivas Cheruvu, in a ceremony that was both elegant and deeply symbolic.
The event, graced by diplomats, distinguished Rotarians, families, and close friends, marked a meaningful transition from the outgoing President, Srinath Vardhineni, to celebrate the collective spirit of Rotary.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a powerful symbol of hope and service that embodies Rotary’s mission to bring light to communities in need.
This gesture set a solemn yet uplifting tone for the evening, which highlighted the Rotary values of fellowship, impact, and humanitarian action.
In his first address as President, Srinivas Cheruvu spoke with heartfelt appreciation. “This moment is not just about me, it is about all of us, about the legacy we uphold, and the future we will build together,” he said.

Adding to the stature of the occasion was the presence of high-level dignitaries, including H.E. Mridu Pawan Das, High Commissioner of India; H.E. Ibrahim Zanna, Nigerian Ambassador; H.E. Margaret Kedisi, Deputy High Commissioner of Uganda.
Maurice Toroitich, Managing Director of NCBA Bank and Assistant District Governor Suman Alla of Rotary District 9150. Their attendance underscored the growing prominence of the Kigali Cosmopolitan Rotary Club and its commitment to service that transcends borders.
Reflecting on the past year, outgoing President Srinath Vardhineni expressed pride in the club’s accomplishments under his leadership.
These included a significant increase in membership, higher contributions to The Rotary Foundation, and a major dental outreach project in partnership with the University of Rwanda that screened over 3,000 children.
Another major milestone was a global grant project carried out in collaboration with Rotary Club of Wilton (USA) and REAP Rwamagana, which trained 40 young people in tailoring and fashion design.

“These initiatives showcased the true magic of Rotary. I thank everyone for your unwavering support, offered full backing to the incoming team, and wish my President Elect Srinivas all the very best,” said Vardhineni in his farewell remarks.
Cheruvu, in turn, lauded his predecessor’s efforts. “Your dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on our club,” he affirmed.
President Cheruvu unveiled his vision for the 2025–26 Rotary year, emphasizing continuity, community empowerment, and sustainable service. He reaffirmed the club’s pledge to continue supporting The Rotary Foundation and the End Polio Now campaign.
“Each contribution we make, no matter the size, becomes a gift that multiplies, investing in humanity, empowering communities, and transforming lives,” he noted.
Among the initiatives lined up are support for a school serving children who are blind and deaf, through the provision of educational materials and training equipment, as well as supplying essential medical equipment to under-resourced health centers.

“Rotary is not just about changing lives, it’s about transforming communities with one service at a time,” Cheruvu emphasized.
The event also recognized the efforts of the outgoing board, with Dr. Dinesh C. Maganti being named Rotarian of the Year for his outstanding contributions to membership development, fundraising, and outreach.
In his closing remarks, Cheruvu offered a rallying call to members and partners alike: “Let this be the year we deepen our connections, enhance our collaborations, and expand our impact… Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
With a strong foundation laid and a new vision in place, the Rotary Club of Kigali Cosmopolitan enters this next chapter determined to serve with even greater purpose of transforming lives, one act of service at a time.
