RDF announces major promotions across all ranks

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has announced a wave of promotions across all ranks, effective immediately. According to the official RDF statement, “the president of the republic of Rwanda and CIC of RDF has promoted RDF personnel as follows.”

The promotions recognize the dedication, professionalism, and outstanding service of the country’s military personnel.

At the highest level, two senior officers have been elevated from Colonel to Brigadier General and the include Col. Innocent Munyengango, Commander of the Logistics Brigade and Col. François Regis Gataraytha, Head of the Defence Intelligence Department at RDF Headquarters.

Additionally, 43 officers were promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, 253 from Major to Lieutenant Colonel, and 79 from Captain to Major. A further 299 Lieutenants have been promoted to Captain.

Col. François Regis Gataraytha, Head of the Defence Intelligence Department at RDF Headquarters has been elevated to Brigadier General.

The promotions also extend to non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel. Eleven Staff Sergeants have been promoted to Sergeant Major, 2,296 Sergeants to Staff Sergeant, 10,260 Corporals to Sergeant, and 7,822 Privates to Corporal.

The RDF emphasized that these promotions are part of ongoing efforts to motivate personnel, strengthen leadership, and maintain high standards of operational excellence.

They acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of all officers and soldiers, noting that these advancements reflect their contributions to national security and service to Rwanda.
