Kigali, Rwanda – Moroccan international Brahim Díaz has issued a heartfelt public apology after missing a decisive penalty in the AFCON final between Morroco and Senegal, taking full responsibility for the moment and expressing deep regret to fans.
In a message shared on social media, the Real Madrid midfielder said the miss left him emotionally wounded, describing the disappointment as one that “will not heal easily.”
“Yesterday, I failed. I take full responsibility, and I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart,” Díaz wrote.
He thanked supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout the tournament, saying their messages and backing gave him strength during the campaign. Díaz stressed that he fought “with everything” he had, playing with his heart above all else.
