Rwanda is gearing up to host the world as it welcomes athletes, fans, and international visitors for the highly anticipated 2025 UCI Road World Championships.
To ensure smooth operations and accommodate the expected surge in traffic and late-night activity, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), working closely with other government institutions, has issued temporary guidelines for businesses during the event, which runs from September 19 to 28, 2025
Under the new measures, all hospitality establishments, including shopping centers, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, will be permitted to extend their closing time until 4:00 am throughout the championship period.
The extension is designed to provide flexibility for visitors and locals taking part in the festivities while maintaining order and safety across Kigali and other host areas.
Despite the relaxed hours, RDB has emphasized that existing laws will remain strictly enforced. Businesses are also reminded that alcohol should never be served to individuals who appear intoxicated.

Restrictions on noise pollution will stay in place, and the prohibition against selling or serving alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 remains unchanged.
“RDB urges all consumers to drink responsibly and avoid driving under the influence,” a statement read, underscoring the country’s commitment to safeguarding both participants and residents during the championship.
Authorities have assured that any entity found violating the directives will be held accountable.
The 2025 UCI Road World Championships mark a historic milestone for Rwanda, and the hospitality guidelines are part of broader efforts to guarantee a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all.
