Luis Díaz joins Bayern Munich in €75M deal

Bayern Munich have secured Colombian star Luis Díaz in a €75M deal from Liverpool, bolstering their squad with a proven, high-impact forward as they aim to reclaim European dominance under Vincent Kompany.

The Bavarians have finalized the high-profile signing of lethal winger from Liverpool. The 28-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract with the Bundesliga champions, which will keep him at the Allianz Arena until June 2029.

The agreement follows a revised proposal from Bayern after Liverpool turned down an earlier offer of £58.6 million. With negotiations successfully concluded, Díaz has been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia and fly to Europe to complete his medical.

Díaz’s arrival marks a strategic move in Bayern’s summer rebuild under newly appointed manager Kompany, who is determined to restore the club’s dominance both in Germany and across Europe.

Bayern’s sporting director described Díaz as a “top-level talent” who brings pace, flair, and resilience to their attacking unit.

Since joining Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 for an initial £37 million, Díaz has grown into a key figure at Anfield. He notched 41 goals in 148 appearances for the Reds, including 17 in the 2024–25 season, his most prolific campaign to date.

His contributions helped Liverpool secure the Premier League title last season, underlining his impact at the club.

Statistically, Díaz has been exceptional. In the 2024–25 Premier League season, he posted an 18.3% shot conversion rate, his highest in English football, and stood just outside the league’s top 10 for combined goals and assists, dribbles completed, and chances created.

His defensive effort also stood out, leading Liverpool in final-third ball recoveries relative to minutes played. With Bayern losing Jamal Musiala to a long-term injury, Díaz offers both quality and versatility in the final third.

The Colombian’s work ethic and creativity are expected to energize Bayern’s frontline as they set their sights on domestic and European silverware once again.
