Kagame, First Lady Begin 2-Day State Visit to Seychelles

Kigali, Rwanda Press, 28 June 2023 – Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame on Wednesday arrived in Victoria, Seychelles where they started a two-day state visit to the Eastern African country.

On arrival, the head of state and his wife were received by President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan for an official welcome ceremony.

Later on, Presidents Kagame and Ramkalawan held a closed-door meeting before joining members of both delegations for discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, President Kagame’s office said.

“Seychelles and Rwanda are driven by a common aspiration to improve the quality of life for all our citizens, working hand-in-hand with partners in the region, and beyond.” President Kagame.

Kagame is also expected to be the guest of honour at Seychelles’ National Day parade later tomorrow, June 29.

This will be the second visit of President Kagame to Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean. The Rwandan President made a private visit to the island nation in August 2018 during which he held discussions with Danny Faure, the President of Seychelles at the time.
