Kigali, Rwanda – Authorities at the City of Kigali have announced eight locations where fireworks will be displayed tonight as Rwanda ushers in the New Year 2026, offering residents and visitors safe and organized venues to celebrate the end of 2025.
According to a statement released on December 30, public fireworks displays will take place at key locations across the capital, including Kigali City, Kigali Pelé Stadium, Canal Olympia, and Kigali Heights.
These sites have been designated to allow large crowds to enjoy the celebrations in a secure and well-coordinated environment. Other additional venues are expected to attract revelers looking to combine the fireworks experience with entertainment, dining, and hospitality services.
They include those that will be hosted by private establishments such as Hôtel des Mille Collines, Atelier du Vin, Serena Hotels, and KCC parkings.
The fireworks are scheduled to begin at midnight on December 31, 2025, marking the official transition into January 1, 2026. City authorities indicated that the displays will last between 10 and 19 minutes, depending on the location.
As the festivities take place, the City of Kigali has urged the public to celebrate responsibly. Residents have been reminded to drink in moderation and to ensure that alcoholic beverages are not given to individuals under the age of 18, in line with national regulations.
The city says the arrangements are part of broader efforts to ensure a safe, orderly, and enjoyable New Year celebration for everyone.
